On any given morning, I’m never particularly inclined to go run 3 miles. But today I had extra special incentive.
My friend Stef (the fitness buff) convinced me it would be a dose of good ole fashion family fun to participate in the local color run with our kids. She promised that with two kids in strollers and two 6-year-old “runners,” I would be spared a grueling pace. I figured it’s one of the few times wearing pigtails as a 30-something is acceptable and I could fulfill my lifelong (ok, month-long) dream of becoming a human canvas!
Despite the narrow (and at times very muddy) path, we did surprisingly well. Songbird didn’t complain about the distance once and even the stroller kids got plenty of action.
The finish line was a cloud of purple, much to everyone’s enjoyment!
Maybe if this is what exercise looked like every morning, I would be in much better shape. Both kids raved about how much fun they had the rest of the afternoon. A new annual family tradition might have just been born!
