dollar store candle holders

I love a good deal. Especially a good deal that’s easy.

Glass vessels are multi-functional decor must-haves. They can be used for candles, yes, but also look great topped with seasonal do-dads – think seashells, pinecones, fall leaves, flowers, and such.

Make your own by picking up these candlesticks and glass vases at your local dollar store.

E6000 is my new bestie. Industrial strength craft adhesive that’s ideal for bonding wood, fabric, leather, ceramic, glass, metal. Non-acidic for photographs and also washer/dryer safe. Dries crystal clear, non-flammable, waterproof and paintable. Seriously, what more could you ask from a glue?!

Run a bead around the candlestick edge.

Center the candlestick on the bottom of the vase and let set overnight.

No one will believe they only cost you $2 each!

Typically you’d fill them half up with rocks, beads, sand, etc, and place votive candles inside. But this month I put a little gold duck tape around the lip and will be employing them in my St. Patty’s Day mantle decor. Stay tuned to see it all come together!

Want a quick, easy way to add St. Paddy’s Day flair to the candles you already have out? Then I designed these wraps just for you!

Click HERE and print onto white letter-sized cardstock. Printer paper might work too, but the cardstock offers better rigidity.

Cut out the two strips. One is 4″ tall for a large candle and the other is 2.5″ tall for a smaller candle.

Use an Xacto knife to cut the top part of the leaves. Don’t cut the whole leaf out!

Gently bend the leaves out.

Wrap it around your candle and tape ends together. Done! I love how they are 3-dimensional .

I picked up these glass candlesticks at TJ Maxx last year. They unscrew to be filled with anything… this month it’s green split peas!

shamrock garland

Monday and Tuesday this week school was cancelled again due to snow. Stuck inside with little people for 48 hours.

Ugh.

Might as well put those small hands to good use and get crafty!

I applied gold duck tape to cardstock and cut out with my circle punch for the gold “coins.”

This is the first house we’ve owned with a proper fireplace. I have never been one to decorate for every holiday, but perhaps a themed mantel would be a good place to start. And maybe these shamrocks will bring us luck that March 20 really will be the first day of spring around here.

How to make a Fabric Garland - GREYHOUSEHARBOR.com

With endless color options, fabric garlands are a fantastic way to add color and texture to a room. They can also make for fun party decor or photo props.

Supplies:
– fabric (new or use up old scraps!)
– ribbon or twine
– tape
– scissors

Start with lightweight fabrics that coordinate with your color scheme.

Cut the fabric into strips approximately 1.5″ wide and 22″ long. The edges will fray a bit, but that just adds character to your garland.
TIP: Every 10″ of completed garland will require 14 fabric strips.

Cut ribbon or twine to your desired length. Leaving a little extra on the ends for tying later, secure it taught to a table top with tape at both ends.
