With endless color options, fabric garlands are a fantastic way to add color and texture to a room. They can also make for fun party decor or photo props.
Supplies:
– fabric (new or use up old scraps!)
– ribbon or twine
– tape
– scissors
Start with lightweight fabrics that coordinate with your color scheme.
Cut the fabric into strips approximately 1.5″ wide and 22″ long. The edges will fray a bit, but that just adds character to your garland.
TIP: Every 10″ of completed garland will require 14 fabric strips.
Cut ribbon or twine to your desired length. Leaving a little extra on the ends for tying later, secure it taught to a table top with tape at both ends.
Fold one fabric strip in half.
From the top, slide the folded end under the ribbon.
Open the loop. Pull the opposite ends over the ribbon and through.
Tighten into a knot.
Repeat with each strip, sliding them close together, until you reach your desired length.
